Daells Varehus was a department store - well known by most of the Danes, especially for its huge mail order catalogues. Now a fivestars hotel has opened on the spot.
The functionalistic building was built by Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1928. Now the house has had a complete restoration. Most characteristic is the red colour of the facade - a colour which is also used inside the building.
The famous Danish artist Per Arnoldi has, besides being the colour consultant, contributed with both ceramics and lithographs for the decoration. And he was also the one to find the name of the hotel - strongly inspired by the church Skt. Petri close to the hotel. |
